Push back racking system fills the storage cube with product, not aisles. Instead of single pallet-deep selective racks, a Push Back Racking system lets you store pallets 2 to 5 deep while retaining easy access to a variety of different SKUs.

1, High densities - three and four deep systems are common, which allows blocks of 2 or 5 deep, with back to back rows. Depths of up to 6 deep are also available, at higher costs.
2, improved selectivity over Drive-In, which Push-Back often replaces.
3, Efficiency vs. Drive-In - trucks do not need to drive into rack loads come to them at the pick face.
4, Applicable for goods of "Small variety big quantity", and operation method of "First in, last out". Also applicable for condition of bigger spacer utilization ratio.

Benefits & Features of Push Back Racking:
Offers the same high density pallet storage as Drive In with much higher selectivity, 3 to 5 times the number of pick faces;
Increased picking efficiency over Drive In racking. Pallets are all picked or placed from the main aisle without having to drive into storage lanes;

Push Back Racking - How It Works:
Example: Loading and Unloading a 3-Deep Push Back Rack System

Step 1 - Each lane is equipped with a pair of inclined rails and a series of colour-coded nested carts. Here, the first pallet has been placed by the lift truck on the top of and flush with the front of the orange cart.

Step 2 - The second pallet is loaded by pushing back the first load and placing it on the next exposed cart - the blue cart.


Step 3 -Pallet three is loaded similarly although this time 2 pallet loads are being pushed back which exposes the rails at the front.

Step 4 - The last pallet is placed directly on the rails, allowing (in this example) for a total storage depth of 3 pallets.

Step 5 - When moving product, the lift truck starts by lifting the front cart high enough to clear the pallet stops or cart. Then the lift truck begins slowly withdrawing the load and regulating the flow of the remaining carts and loads towards the aisle.

Step 6 - The remaining pallets are removed similarly. As each is removed, the loads in behind roll toward the aisle.
